Being a Sister
The Thetas at OSU have many ways of fostering sisterhood among our 65 members. Some sisterhood activities involve movies, bowling and other events. Last spring we were all surprised with a day at the spa and a Baja Fresh catered dinner for our Pampered Theta event. Members had the chance to receive massages, facials, makeovers, and participate in a yoga class. Our house also took a break from hectic spring schedules by having a roller skating sisterhood and a nearby roller rink.
Last Christmas we had a special party. Everyone was taken to a Christmas movie, and received goody bags for the holidays. Sisterhood is also present through participation in philanthropies, intramural sports, service activities, academic programs and activities, and chapter involvement. And, of course, every new member receives a Big Sister soon after pledging to help her integrate into the group.
Living together also gives us a great opportunity to build strong friendships. Our chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta has a house at 465 NW 23rd Street, between Harrison and Tyler. It's about 4 blocks from campus. Recently all the rooms and the tv lounge were remodeled. Up to 52 sisters can live in the house at any time; currently 47 Thetas live in.
